Okay, this is day 28 of marker training with Kain.
I didn't think there was that much of a progress, so I was almost going to skip this week, but hubby felt that we should make a video every week, regardless of how little the improvements are.
I've been focusing on smoothing out this sit, stand, and down. I am getting him ready/comfortable against the wall so I can start his heeling. His pivoting is getting better. As for the question I had regarding my week 3 video, I found it in day 2 of my ME class videos
Hi Melissa,
So glad you did make the video for week 4 because it actually shows how attentive Kain has become and how much he is enjoying the marker training....see that he never takes his eyes off you except for one fleeting glance at hubby with the camera almost at the end! He is loving the session judging from that constant tail wag. The pivot looks great too......and all of this on the ever shiny floor surface. Your commands are crisp and sharp. Great job! Very inspirational. Thanks for posting. (Hubby was right about making the video each week regardless of impressions of whether there's been a huge change or not. I think there was!)
Lisabet, thanks! I agree, I didn't think there was much of an improvement until I saw the video. I could tell that he was doing the commands with more confidence and his movements were more fluid. I was glad hubby took the video. Sigh, and yes, the ever slippery floor of ours. I am going to try to start doing the OB sessions outdoors, I am very curious to see how attentive he will be then
Dr. Betty, thank you! I watched my week 1 video again and I realized how much he had improved in just 4 weeks. He is a very smart dog, and I've learned a lot from working with him.
CJ, yes, he is a very happy dog. My husband said he was trying hard to hold in his laughter when he heard the "thump, thump, thump," good thing he was still able to keep the camcorder steady. I was actually doing the same thing, I really wanted to laugh, but I had to act serious and keep Kain in training mode
