I have coats and blanket but they offer no protection against branches and bushes.
Harley is at his 5th accident and well over 30 staples and a lot of cash to fix him.
There got to be some vest on the market that are not just bright orange or life type vest.
I need to protect his chest and rib cage. I really don't care about the expense of it, if it work and prevent injuries.
Today he rip through a Masta dog turn out blanket and got a nice big hole on his side. There is no way that I will keep him inside or leash 24/7 in the long run. His skin is paper thin, he is very pain tolerant and very active.
All sugestion are welcome.
I have 2 RC pets coat for winter and 1 masta blanket already and 1 orange hunting vest
This may sound weird, but look up "bay vests" and "cut vests" that are made for boar hunting to protect the dogs from getting sliced up by the boar tusks.
They typically cover the neck, chest plate, chest and often the tummy area.
Camo is a very typical color, but other drab colors are available.
Here is a link that shows some of the options out there as far as cut and strength. They are very often made of Kevlar, so depending on where your dog is getting cut up, this may be an option....
This is one of the Remington Neoprene Vests. It might provide the protection he needs.
They're really well made, quite thick and rubbery.
It comes with thin but incredibly sturdy flotation thingys that line the side panels. I took them out because the lab type vest was just not fitting right on my husky. It did fit my much longer, slightly sleeker shepherd nicely though.
This boy is 83 lbs and much shorter, lengthwise than Vince. It covers a bit more but not a good fit on him at all. Really tight in the chest and it's the XL.
So I ordered a kevlar vest,
Fitting a dobe or what the guy called a V shape dog is a pain! I have looked into wetsuit but that narrow deep chest is hard to fit with out massive modification.
Any how the kevlar vest is still cheaper than one unplanned visit to the vet for staples and antibiotic
