I am fortunate to get 10 days off over Christmas, lots of big yomps with the dogs, and a new book from my sis to get engrossed in, I really ought to be doing housework, but as I am fighting a losing battle with the muddy fields and 16 paws clogged with grot, a quick vacuum and 4 pooped dogs have lead to the habit of a pint of coffee and picking the tome up, plus the laptop was on the fritz over the last week, so very reluctantly, (NOT!) I have curled up for a couple of hours with 'The Distant Hours' by Kate Morton, and I am hooked!
I am a huge devotee of J D Robb's 'in death' series, (Rourke sounds like the sort of chap I might be tempted back into the whole dating thing for!), but as I am waiting for the latest release, I am working my way slowly through all the books I have aquired from friends and family.
My favourite laugh-out-loud book of the summer was 'The tent, the bucket and me' by Emma Kennedy, I actually laughed so much, I choked and the dogs started jumping round me and barking!
A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka, was another suprise my sister sent me a couple of Christmas's ago; the title made me scratch my head, my sis is a bit odd at times, but it was a beaut, and easily despatched in a couple of evenings.
I love books that delve into the nitty gritty of peoples deepest secrets and the black part of their past, not much into chick lit, Thomas Harris is one of my favourites for the 'dark side', have re-read the Hannibal books over and over!

I could say the exact same thing!
I didn't get any books for Christmas, but I recently read "Only Time Will Tell," by Jeffrey Archer, and really got lost in it. It's supposed to be the first in a trilogy.
There's a relatively new author I recently discovered named John Hart. He has four books out so far: "Down River," "The Last Child," "The King of Lies," and "Iron House." I can't wait for more from him. If I start one of his books, I can plan on getting way behind on work, chores, and anything else that needs doing, until I finish the book!
