There is a section on the Marker DVD on how to get the dog more excited to work (play) with you (I know it is because I am in the what not to do section along with Drift).
Cool! That was the big german shepherd, I think....?

You need to BE FUN!!
Yes I try to be fun, and he's not really bored with playing, just bored with playing that, it seems like. It's not a play problem, that's all he wants to do; I just wasn't sure about that particular part of fetch.
I don't know; not sure what I'd do if he was "supposed" to go get the last one anyway. I just thought it might conflict with pack-leader training or something, I don't know. I suddenly thought everything had different rules, or something. Mondo never loses interest in me, just in that particular game.

You just really seriously need to watch those DVDs again- it really sounds like you got NOTHING out of them- no understanding of markers, can't play correctly, can't deliver the treat correctly, etc, etc, etc.
Thanks for your help.

...can you REALLY NOT understand why we are getting frustrated???
I sure didn't mean to do that. Please don't waste any more time on me.
It would help if your posts were shorter and to the point. I know, I am guilty of long posts, but mine pale in comparison to yours.
It really sounds like you would benefit from working with a professional who can point out the behaviours that you are giving your dog that are counter-productive for both of you.
I recently worked with a new trainer and she pointed out to me all the ways I was rewarding Jethro for being pushy, and also exacerbating his reactivity with my excited reactions. By making a few simple changes I have been able to have much more enjoyment with Jethro and much less heart-stopping incidents of reactivity.
Thanks; I actually had some in-person help today, and that makes a world of difference, I think. It's difficult for me to teach myself something when the results are as nebulous and non-immediate, plus it "sort-of" works, so I get that positive feedback.
After reading and skimming again I think you're on the way to doing great!
Lol, thanks! I think you may be the only one. I appreciate it.
We had a good experience today. It will be fun to see how it turns out. As somebody who was concerned, I want to assure you again that I'm not going to do anything stupid (except ask endless stupid questions, lol.)
I'll be back with some updates, for anybody who cares.

"Evidently people like to waste their time on me and then tell me what a waste it was."
"I'll be back with some updates, for anybody who cares."
Swell. Passive aggressive. After two threads of about 25 PAGES total, "if anyone cares" is incredibly dismissive of all the time spent on you.
I know how much effort everyone has put in here. Dismissive remarks about the thousands of words posted to answer the same questions over and over can’t change the fact that you’ve received an incredible amount of great (if frustrated) advice here.
Let's move past martyrdom. It won't fly.

I believe that the O.P. is re-watching the videos, using pause and review and maybe reminder notes.
I know when I first got them, those two DVDs were always in my player (one or the other).
And seeing some things one may have slipped into, like repeating commands, multiple-marks, etc., it will be much clearer that attention should be paid and that if something is fuzzy -- watch it again.
I really hope this is happening.
And I'm thrilled that you have in-person help!
Updates will be good. A total change in your training protocol will be a huge relief to read about, as well as the dog's progress.
I'll be happy to see them! I know many people will.
I strongly urge that any more posts in the tone of "nobody likes me; nobody cares" be avoided like the plague. Everyone will indeed be watching and hoping for great news.
