i am making treats, and have gotten some really good ideas for soft treats from this board that Tanka loves. But I want some hard treats too. All of those call for some kind of flour to add hardness. Is oat flour a better option than any other. I have a whole foods nearby so I can get just about any kind of flour I want to use.

IMO, both oat and rice flour are better options for dog foods than wheat or corn because of the gluten factor.
I'd probably google quinoa-based dog cookies and see what comes up.

The reason I don't say flour made from beans (including soy) or pulses is because I don't know whether flours made from those foods are as gas-producing as the foods themselves. I avoid those foods for dogs whose breeds are bloat-prone.

Thanks Cheryl, that's simple enough. if I want to use that I can use some oatmeal I had to buy on vacation that I think is too fine for me. I like it really thick and chewy.! I was placing a supplement order last night and ordered some organic brown rice flour. I'll try a small batch with that and see how it works out.
