Notice the tail dock on Luke. I had a pit in the early 80's a resccue, who had her tail docked. Also I'm thinking there must have been more than one Petey because his eye patch was on two different sides in this vid
They really are lovely dogs. We have 2 on the local S&R team here in town. They do some great publicity for the breed itself and for rescued pitties (they are both adopted) I hope they get their reputation back soon- unfortunately that means another breed will have taken their place to be America's most hated (I vote for the Chihuahua!- All in Jest of course Maybe then people would see how ridiculous breed discrimination is)
A bit OT, but what is your thought on Tail Docking? We have one at the HS who is continuously breaking hers open and it does not seem to be fully healing any more
Maybe then people would see how ridiculous breed discrimination is
I always like to point out that the dear sweet Labrador Retriever is the breed involved with the greatest number of dog bite cases in the state of Colorado.
Personally I don't believe in any cosmetic alterations of my own dogs. I am not a fan of ear crops as well. I think a tail is there for a reson and docking it puts off the natural balance of the dog causing them to alter what would be their natural gait, stance what have you. This has got to affect the physiology of the skeletal structure muscles etc... I realize many adapt just fine that is just my personal point of view. When I got my 1st Pitty in the 80's it was told to me that they were no longer docking the tails on pitty's because if they got into an altercation or fight one could simply grab the tail and pull them out. With reflection , to me that sounds kind of ridiculous as I've found a yank up on the collar suffices with mine, howhever he has been in training for at least 2 years now so maybe that's why that's all it takes for him to release. (Thankfully I haven'thad to do that as I am the only one allowed to handle him when he is not behind a fence.
