Looks like Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 1026 is a booster for rumen fermentation, useful for ruminants and for some non-ruminant herbivores like horses.
I think that there's very little similarity between the canid GI system and that of any herbivore, ruminant or not.
I'm no expert on herbivore feed additives, but:

ETA ... I can't get the link to this .PDF to work. Google this: Cambridge journals Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 1026 and click on that "Mode of Action" return to see the article called "Mode of action of the yeast Sacchavomyces cerevisiae as a feed additive for ruminants" *
Off the top of my head, it's a completely different thing from the L. acidophilus, Enterococcus faecium, and L. rhamnosus base that you'd be looking for in a dog probiotic supplement. For humans or dogs, I'd be looking for a "base" of Lactobacillus acidophilus.
I just recently heard of a strain I had never heard of before.
It is called bacillus coagulans
I have been told that it is one that actually survives as well as reproduces in the gut the good bacteria you want to build for a healthy immune system.

Funny: I just received an email a day or two ago with a link to an article about bacillus coagulans (aka Lactobacillus sporogenes) in animal probiotic supplements. I haven't read it yet.
The Animal Essentials product .... I don't know what probiotic strains it contains ....

Thanks Connie and Joyce, going to take the time to read all the links thoroughly when I get into work, I don't have blind faith in my boss and his products, but your posts have shown me he hasn't actually done enough research into what is avaiable now, the dog section of our products CLEARLY needs updating, so thank you both again, much food for thought.....
Well I just looked through the C of A folder and we don't have the sheet I am looking for, apparently the company doesn't issue them, which is not on, so I am going to ring them today and request one...
