In our local HS right now there are 2 beautiful German Shepherd boys (all the vetting is done) The HS is looking for a knowledgeable rescue to take them in because they do not have the rescources to help them. Both are dog agressive and one is starting to posture and growl at men. Last week he was fine- sweet and obedient, but he is getting very stressed in a shelter situation and it is bringing out the absolute worst in him. I walked him and did OB work with him last week- today I couldn't even approach his kennel in a baseball cap.
The other seems good with people (adults) but is also DA. I haven't personally had much contact with him as both boys are now under the no touch/talk/look rule for liability reasons(Understandable)
These boys are absolutely breaking my heart and ARE in danger of Euth. if a suitable rescue is unable to be found. We just don't have a knowlegable adoption base around here (or childless/dogless fosters) for dogs that have special placement needs and it's killing me to see these boys go through this. We have transport as far as Minneapolis for next Monday, but if anyone could suggest some rescues to contact, you know me- I'll transport as far as I possibly can to help these guys.
I will contact AMBC and see if they can give me some info on rescues. I am a volunteer/foster for the HS here and they are trying very hard to find a suitable rescue for these boys with no luck so far. The director is really awesome and is just as upset about this as I am. She also knows when she is in over her head with a dog that needs more than we can provide, which is the case with both of these guys. I'm not in the position to foster an aggressive-anything dog right now, otherwise I'd take one until we could get things arranged.
Thanks Cheri! I did find a rescue I was not aware of on there just before you posted. I think we may have found 1 that would take them (if they can adopt out a couple dogs of theirs first) and 1 other lead on a rescue.
