Wow, Jamie, that is a horrific story on so many levels! All I can say is, even though Gambit was subjected to an impromptu, unplanned for, atypical and very unwelcome temperament test, to his credit, he passed with an A+++!
(And Janet, I hope that senior white shepherd gets adopted to a wonderful home!)
I always think it's fun when people try and guess the breed of one of my dogs simply because people see all sorts of things in him. I don't know what he is, but I've had everything from australian shepherd to husky to pit to shar pei to saint bernard. Kind of a wide range of different dogs! I've also had some people ask me if he's part bear, but I always take that as a sign that he's getting a little wooly and needs some extra brushing
The one thing that REALLY gets me is people who allow their dogs to go running up to other dogs while shouting "it's okay, he's friendly!". My dog is dog-tolerant but he doesn't enjoy impromptu social meet-and-greets so I usually just says he's not friendly and go on my way, but this one guy said "It's okay, as long as one of them is friendly they won't fight." God help his little 30lb golden doodle when it runs up to a REAL dog-aggressive dog!
