Guys, I need your advice. I had taken Kaiser with me to my farm where I am building a house. We were there for 7 days and Helga was not with him. When we came back, the moment Kaiser got out of the car, he jumped on helga and started humping her. I thought it was one of those weird things dogs do.
But he has kept at it for the past one week. Helga has no discharge, no bleeding, no swelling , no visible signs of heat.
But Kaiser is bothering her to no end. His dew claws have made injuries on her rear . His nose is attached to her rear end , they look like a train of dogs.
Helga reacts by trying to snap at him , or just lying down , growling etc. etc.
Bladder infections and such can smell like a dog in heat to a male dog. Perhaps you should get a culture done and see if she's got a flare up? Otherwise, keep them separated. She could be having a silent heat, and it's not nice to subject her to a pesky male anyway. It could end up with someone getting seriously injured when she finally snaps and has it out with him.
I keep them separated except for play time. I was feeling rather confident to let them together under my supervision because I did not see any symptomps of heat.
But the 1 hr he is with her he is a nuisance. I just checked helga's temperature, she is fine. But I will have her checked by the vet anyway. Thanks for the info.
The most common cause of this would be some bladder/yeast/vaginal infection.
Certain molds in the food can cause estrogen-like response in the female too.
Contact with a woman who is using estrogen cream for relief of symptoms of aging can cause this as well.

I wouldn't have them together even for that hour if all he's doing is trying to hump her and leaves injuries on her.
That's not fair to her at all to be pesterd incessently for that hour. And if his dew claws are leaving cuts that kind of sounds like the humping is happening anyway? If he doesn't get a chance to mount her, there will be not cuts on her.
It might be an inconvenience to have to exercise them sperately, but if he's leaving marks on her I would say seperate play time is in order. I feel sorry for the poor girl.
