Lou may be able to tell you better if Dogtra has a tone option.
They do have a "pager" option on their models that I love! It can be used as a conditioned negative reinforcer, conditioned positive reinforcer, recall stimulus, or to "bend" field dogs during quartering on the hunt...etc. etc. But not for all at once of course ; )!
The only tone models I'm familiar with are their pointing dog collars with a beeper, great for locating the dog, not much of a training aid however.
Like I said they may have other "tone" options, but I'm not aware of them. Any of their ncp models are superb.
Pamela Wayne got it right. Dogtra doesn’t have a tone feature. Instead they have a “pager.” The tone is an audible beep–beep–beep and the pager is a vibration, just like on your pager or cell phone. Some dogs don’t like the pager feature and find it aversive but that’s easy to turn around with some positive training.
My favorite use for either the tone or the pager is as a recall signal but you can train it to mean anything you like.
You can see the collars at dogtra.com
Lou Castle has been kicked off this board. He is an OLD SCHOOL DOG TRAINER with little to offer.
I see that Mr. Castle is once again advising people not to buy TriTronics collars even though he is a supposed dealer of them. Pam what you should know about the nick stimulation is Lou uses this nick mode extensivly on the Dogtra. He gives constant little bursts so not to over stim the dog. The thing with the dial up is you can accidently move it and give your dog more stimulation then needed. This can be a problem which others readily admit being a issue with the dogtra. Also if you use it on a mulitude of dogs you have to remember exactly where it was set in order for you to use it on the particular dog. I sell Tri Tronic collars and might suggest you try one first and if not happy return it.
As far as Alan questionning methods of Mr. Castles, I agree with him. Alan questioned the trainning methods and was blasted by Mr. Castle for this. Well Lou you have blasted me before and your responses are old hat.

Joe Noble: Why don't you analyze your stupid statement. If it is true that Lou is a dealer of BOTH brands don't you think it speaks volumes about Lou's true feeling's about Dogtra? If he can sell either brand and he is recommending the Dogtra, that to me is biased advise, not $$ grubbing like you David D.

Joe Noble: Oh, you don't sell the Dogtra??? That tells me your advise is purely profit driven. Go bark up someone elses tree.

You must have read my mind. Good Point.
Lets try and keep this thread as civil as possible. It's fine to take others to task over issues but lets try and remain respectful.
Hey Chuck, I've been gone for a bit and I get back and I see you have been promoted to moderator. I can't think of a more fair guy to serve in that position. Good for you.
Joe my response was based on a statement by Lou that I find incorrect. I do not make my money selling collars nor myself for seminars like Lou. So your statement that this is profit motivated is quite frankly false. Lou is not a dealer of TT and you will find this out because he refuses to back this up with proof that he is. He does not offer it as a product just uses the comparison that he sells both and prefers dogtra. Then he only brings the Dogtra to a seminar. Fine if you prefer dogtra then don't use the comparison to sell the dogtra. Unforuntaly I disagree with this method of sales as I personally find it unethical.
Lou offers great advice to people who are interested in ecollars. We can disagree with some of the trainning methods he has from time to time. He does not have experience in all dog sports and work. Sorry if this has offended you but I am calling it like I see it.
