Unfortunately last night Pheonix bit me. We've been working on going in the kennel willingly and he had it down pretty good but last night I took him out to potty one last time before bed, and he spun around and bit me when I told him to kennel. Three puncture wounds - one on my arm and two down to the knuckle on my thumb. He was attempting to go for my leg and stomach area but my arm got it instead because I grabbed his collar and held him off of me.

Then what happened?
PS
I'm really sorry you were bitten. My question above is more about what that's going to mean long-term.
Sometimes we overlook the incredible sacrifices made by you and others who care for such high-drive fosters. It has just dawned on me that not only do you sometimes inconvenience your family, pets, and home, but that you also put yourself in harm's way for the sake of a being that needs a little love and a decent existence.
I sure hope you're okay, and hope to see you again soon.
I'm okay and got the all clear from the doctor. It's not my first dog bite, although it is the first time I've had to have xrays done for them. I knew his potential and took every precaution I could. I don't blame him. I'm not even angry at him. I'm incredibly sad for him that he's so broken that he feels he needs to behave that way. He's very sick today from the stress of last night, but was his typical friendly self when I took him out this morning for a short walk. The routine will continue until I've made a choice about what to do with him.
We go out for a short potty break before bedtime every single day at roughly the same time. Looking back there was no trigger except his damaged mind. Right from the beginning I decided that if he wasn't adoptable within a reasonable time frame, but able to be handled safely and trusted with my family, I'd keep him. I'm going to talk to my vet and set an appointment with the behaviorist to see what they think and go from there.
