LOVE the look of this dog -and the elegant platz...
Mine goes down like three cinder bricks dumped from a bucket..
LOL, Hilarie. One of mine goes down front end first and then insists on putting his rear end down at the speed of molasses in January.
Ram, I love Bommi's style of going into the platz, the way she sort of hops her rear legs back and drops without moving her front legs. I know a lot of obedience folks who would be very envious of that! Good luck at your show.

Bommi does not have crazy levels of drive like Helga, but she is super focused and has clarity of mind (if I may use a human term).
Even though she has less drive, for some reason she is the fastest learner I have. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she does not care about any thing else that is happening around her. By nature she is a very calm dog.
Helga on the other hand , though super drivey, and super fast in her movements, is a scatter brain.
Bommi gets real excited when we are about to go for a walk. Her eyes will get big and tail wagging and she will make funny howling noises. And she will do a weird stretching thing with her whole body while making funny noises. I will try to catch that on video some time.
With Kaiser and helga I must have repeated the "down from Sit" atleast a few months, with Bommi it was just a few weeks. Some thing about her makes her grasp things quickly.

That's what Tracey saw too in Bommi too.
I have a couch potato in my pack, but his love for food and his excitement to do anything that might earn a bit of food completely disguises the fact that he doesn't care about anything else.

Ram, it shows she has enjoyment and can get excited. Why not carry that enjoyment over to her obedience exercises. No reason why it can't! Train like you play!

A little off topic ... not too much ....
Training like playing took me a while to get.
I was 100% on board with positive-reward-based, then 110% with marker training, but it took a kind of perfect storm of clips of Cindy with Rush, Michael Ellis's videos, and Bob's advice in PMs and emails before I really "got it" .... I think because I never completely believed that it could garner the same results (and better!).
Of course, I was wrong, and I'm very happy to have learned that!
ram: I am working with my dog bindi on the stand position. She will stand when I ask her too, but the problem is when she is in heel position. she stands and then sits right away. i am training her stand for longer and longer. Your video was an encouragement to me. thanks bindi is the dog in the middle of this picture.
