Ugh. I think that is the most misleading piece of crap. What was he training the dog, yanking him back on the leash like that every time the dogs were passing? The laughable part to me is putting that video up as a sales or promotional piece. I would stay a long, long way away from that outfit.
I did see the prong collar in the later shot, and I also saw a stressed out, unhappy dog. So what if he isn't barking.
The whole five minute, two minute thing. Yes, you too can get a quick fix and your dog will be perfect forever more. Not.
In the first half of the video the owner was making no attempt to control the dog other then pulling it back. That does nothing but create an opposition reflex where the dog will resist against the pull. A "correctly applied" correction can go a long way towards getting in the dogs head.
"Fixed in 5 minutes"? Not really! Controlled in five minutes but for sure not proofed for reliability.
IMHO, The excited dog in the first part of the video didn't look aggressive to me at all. It looked un-socialized and dog reactive. It even looks like he may have play slapped at the camera guy a couple of times. It was barely restrained on a flat collar with no interaction or intervention from the handler, for benefit of the video I'm sure.
In the second part of the video the dog had been shut down. The addition of a prong, and whatever abuse the "trainer" applied, succeeded in keeping the dog quiet, because it was terrified at what would happen if it barked. Congratulations, you now have a fear biter that will not offer any warning when it feels stressed or uncomfortable. I hope the handler has insurance if he plans on allowing that dog any freedom. Sad video.
David, I agree with you. The dog to me just looked very overwhelmed the whole time, excited/fearful around all the dogs and fearful when the camera guy got too close. The last two minutes he looked shut down. Poor boy.
