So used to be interested in Dogo's and thought that was what I wanted. But the other day when I was riding my Bike with Gunner he just could not keep up, keep in mind he is a senior and overweight. I stopped and thought to myself "Why would I want another breed who can't keep up with me?". Sure the Dogo can run and such but not to the extent I wanted it to (like Gunner), plus there were other things that I disliked about the Dogo. Like you guys told me in my previous post I need a dog that can keep up with me. I did some more research and I *think* the Beauceron, I think you pronounce it Bo-cer-on, would be a good breed for me. After reading what many breeders and websites say about the breeds temperment, intelligence, and athleticness I can't help but wonder why this beautiful breed is not more popular in the USA? Anyways I will join the club soon and try to meet up with an owner or breeder soon.
These are the qualities I want in a dog if you feel you know other breeds that would be good for me also:
Large 85-100 lbs.
Intelligent and wants to please unlike hounds & primitive breeds
Agile and very athletic
No Brachephalic breeds, I don't like the look and the hot weather in GA could cause problems.
I got to meet a Doberman earlier and it was a male from European show lines. Remember when I said the dog HAD to have a head the size of a Rottweilers and nothing less? Well the second I saw the dog I could not believe how nicely proportionate and large the head looked. He was 85-90 lbs, cropped & docked, and aloof (I wouldn't be surprised if the dog did not even notice I was petting him Lol)
