Hi, I posted here a while ago about raw feeding with my pugs and I have kinda been busy so I haven't bene around but now I have a problem and my vet is a moron so i came to ask you ppl hat know everything!
History : she ( ginger) welped in april last year 1 water puppie 2 stillborn 3 survivers. We skipped the last heat and had her hormones and everything tested instead, suposedly perfectly fine. no infection, genetics are good no diseases. So we welped this heat and she bleed for 5 weeks, concerned I took her to the vet and he did a pregnancy test and it was negative. assuming she lost the puppies or had a negative cycle we tested her again ( for the bleeding) to make sure she didnt have an infection. she was clear. We scrapped the cycle and all paperwork ( STUPID) and a few weeks ago she doubled in size over night. Convinced shes pregnant i took ehr back to my vet and he confirmed pregnant ( doh) I don't know now exactly when shes due but shes been * showing* for about 3 weeks. I have been taking her temp this last week cause shes acting funny but it comes up everytime at 37.27 C ( 97F) which doesnt make any sence. Lat night she wont eat, this am she wont eat, i managed to spoon feed her some canned food. Shes now restles and shes tucknig her tial under her when shes laying. Im convinced shes going into labor but the vet again says no but I have to put SOME vet on alert when she goes into labor cause of her prevoius problems and have one avail for c-section/spay if nesseary. .. what do you think ?????
Has this dog had an Xray to confirm that she is pregnant?
How many days since she was exposed to a male while in heat?
A false pregnancy, or a false pregnancy with a pyometra (uterine infection) can masquerade as the real deal with big nipples, milk, fat abdomen, all indications of pregnancy -- but there is no pregnancy, only a uterus filled with life threatening
infection. A common sign is that the dog becomes depressed and drinks tons of water.
These dogs sometimes have subnormal temperatures. This condition is an emergency.
Get help to determine if the dog is pregnant or not, and go from there.
the pregnancy was confirmend but as i said my vets and idiot and couldnt confrm how many puppies are in there, he jsut said more then 4 O.o i shoul fhave had an xray done however i am anti raditation if i can be helped so i jsut had an echo done we can also feel the puppies moving, not as much as id like but i was told they could be faced in and not kicking otuwards
Ok so after screaming and yelling at the vet he finally came out to check my ginger. shes negative again for infection (on the lil quick scanner thingy) portable echo shows good fetal movement estamate around 7 puppies (poor baby). shes on schedual and in pre-active labor. The puppies are now visably active on her belly and shes panting away. I expect itll be a lil bit before she goes into full active labor she still wont eat or drink but im sharing my frozen yogurt cubes with her and she seems to like licking them. I guess now we wait.
