Can anyone explain to me how a two year old dog that had received all her shots and not yet due for her booster dies of Parvo? My daughter spent this past week in Belize while I took care of her dogs and to my horror her 2 yr old and 3 month old pup came down with parvo. Not knowing the dogs were sick yet, I took my 3 month pup with me to her home to feed. Rajah had is second series 3 weeks ago so we can't test him for Parvo. Just have to watch him for a couple weeks to make sure he does't show any signs. So far he is fine.
To add to this past week my sisters dog was behind on her shot so she received all except parvo but she tested positive for whip worm. So now I am waiting for my vet to call for results of stool sample, should hear today.
One last question, how do you get rid of whip worm in your yard?

I'm so sorry this happened.
I've heard of vax failure in pups 4 or 5 months old, but not 2 years. I'm not a health professional, though.
The 2-year-old died and the 3-month-old is OK?
This part isn't clear to me:

Not completely sure what you're asking? Whether this dog is now parvo-vulnerable? ("she received all except parvo")
Sometimes a pup from a shelter will bring wild type virus to a home and infect and kill adults, even vaccinated adults.
I have only seen that happen if the adult dog is somewhat immunosuppressed, older, severely parasitized, on cortizone for itching, etc.
How terrible for your family!
Regarding disinfection - for parvo, I was taught 1 part bleach to 10 parts water is the minimum effective concentration, for a tile floor I'd use almost straight bleach (perhaps 2 parts bleach to 1 part water) and let it stand a few minutes on any area that you know was contaminated by parvo stool.
For the whipworms, the feces are the source of the eggs, so clean up the yard well. On concrete, blast with a hose and allow to dry in the sun. Keep grass mowed short.
Do repeated fecals, whips don't always shed eggs and can be missed on a single exam.
Are they certain this was parvo? It is rather rare in vaccinated dogs.
