I have been interested in using the vibration button on my dogs e collar to break her focus on the cat at my neighbors. She is testing her recall and starting to ignore me. But she is on an underground fence that also vibrates when approaching the line. I do not her to associate the fence with the e collar and think the fence has moved.
First off I don't use e-collars so others may have better information/
BUT, I'm not a fan of the fence collar that vibrates to warn the dog what's coming.
If the collar is accidentally left off, the dog gets no warning. What keeps the dog from going through the fence then?
Leaving the yard on it's own is a very dangerous act. The dog needs a consequence NOT a warning.
I would look at "focus on a cat" the same way.The consequences for YOU are to big to ignore this if the dog decides to take off.
I would not use an underground fence except I live on a very short 1 mile dirt road in rural country. The fence gives a correction if the vibration is ignored.
