Thanks for asking, Connie. We're not really getting too far too quickly, but she did surprise me a couple times by coming and sitting between my feet. Yep, I was right, she hates me. LOL I've really not done too well with the marker training, and I think I'm going to have to go back and review the video again. She loves the treats, but checks out before I can do much with her. Part of that may be that other stuff is just too interesting, and part of that may be she's not hungry enough, and part of that may be me. But she's got a long life ahead of her, and she'll learn it, and hopefully so will I. :-)
You'll find that the attention span gets longer, the older she gets.
Remember to do short, upbeat, positive, energetic, bursts of training, no more then 5 minutes at a time. Maybe 2-3 times a day.
Always end with a big finish with lots of praising, treats, cooing and coddling. You really need to find your happy dance!
Marker training is all about timing and presentation of a reward. Anyone here that has experience in it can attest that it takes time, patience, and experience to get it down to a science. Don't beat yourself up because your learning too.
Don't worry much about focus on you. Her little attention span is only going to be a few seconds, then if your boring she's going to find something interesting to do with that fuzzball on the floor that looks like a critter cause it moved.
