Hi everyone, I have a silly question. I may be relocating to Roanoke, Va. I was looking up their dog laws and came across the dangerous dog law, which seems pretty fair. But as I read it I noted that it said (I paraphrase) a dog that "shows aggression" does anyone know if Amber's reactivity, although she has gotten a ton better would get her labelled a dangerous dog if she were to be reactive to another dog? I guess what I'm trying to say is if someone walking their poodle were to say Ambi barked at their dog,(I do understand to some the reactivity looks like aggression),could the person then call AC, report her and get her labelled? We like to walk so this is kind of a big issue to consider.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.

Section 6-22-1 Definitions
Dangerous dog: A canine or canine crossbreed that has bitten, attacked, or inflicted injury on a person or companion animal that is a dog or cat, or killed a companion animal that is a dog or cat. However, when a dog attacks or bites a companion animal that is a dog or cat, the attacking or biting dog shall not be deemed dangerous:
(1)
If no serious physical injury as determined by a licensed veterinarian has occurred to the dog or cat as a result of the attack or bite;
(2)
If both animals are owned by the same person;
(3)
If such attack occurs on the property of the attacking or biting dog's owner or custodian; or
(4)
For other good cause as determined by the court.
No dog shall be found to be a dangerous dog as a result of biting, attacking or inflicting injury on a dog or cat while engaged with an owner or custodian as part of lawful hunting or participating in an organized, lawful dog handling event.
Dog: A carnivorous domestic mammal of the family Canidae, including hybrids and crosses within this family.
By reading through, there are statutes for declaring a constant barker a nuisance animal, but nothing that looks to be ridiculous. I do not think they could have Amber labelled without actually having harmed another animal. There appear to be a 2 strikes - the first labeling and registering of a dangerous dog, upon which sec 6-52 of division 3 would need to be followed, the second incident upon which sec 6-53 of division 3 would need to be followed.
I like the specificity of their dog laws, actually, it looks to be rather easy to ensure that you and your dog remain inside the law.
