Just wanted to give an update on my visit with the competition obedience trainer. I loved it! I spent an hour and she helped me greatly and gave me great tips and some things to practice. she taught me some turns using better footwork. Although it was so very hot (even though we met at 9:00 am) I wish I could've had more time. If I want to meet with her again, I can call her.
It will be about a month or so before we know if she can get the great rally teacher she is hoping to get. Right now the rally o trainer she would like to get is having health problems.
I would love to work with her. I hope it works out. In my area we do not have rally trainers. I may have to go as far as Orange county or San Diego County about an hour a way one way....so thanks for your prayers and good wishes. Bindi and I had a great time.

What are the trainers basic methods for training?
I agree about the foot work. When I was first starting in OB in the
competition in the 60s we had those yellow, stick on foot prints that were on the floor. We practiced a lot without the dog. Still do 40+ yrs later.
It goes a log way towards letting you concentrate on the dog in competition without worrying about your footwork. That can be HUGE for beginners in particular.
Yep that is just what I need. I am a beginner. I hope to be able to take Rally O training with her. She also does competition obedience. She trains obedience as if you will be competing. So she looks for precision, using positive methods. I want to learn. Bindi deserves a good handler. And I know Bindi will do better when I know what I am doing.
I will find out more about it if I am able to train with her.
So, that is it. looking forward to it. In the mean time I am taking Bindi to a pet dog trainer who does obedience. She is a good trainer. Just not teaching rally. I want to keep bindi there for the exposure to other dogs and distractions.
