Sadha, my 5.5 month old puppy starting training under distractions.
This is outside my house where there are lots of distractions. He seems to cope with it well. I have found to be very tolerant and forgiving of my mistakes.
I wish I lived in a calmer town, but this is the level of distraction they have to put up with every day.
As always your comments and criticisms are much sought after.
for the mark to have maximum effect , now and in the future , you mark the precise behaviour at the moment it happens , and then release the dog from the behaviour .
see / induce the behaviour you want . . . mark . . . moment pause . . . produce the reward / release the dog .
you are losing the power / potential of " yes " and " good " by having them denoting the same thing .
of course the words can be / mean anything you want , but what i see in the vid is not what you are describing them to mean . example : while the dog is on the long sit outside the chicken shop , you are rewarding duration with " yes " . when the dog is on the down , you are rewarding stability in place with " yes " , plus the dog is lifting slightly and still gets rewarded which reinforces not the exact behaviour you want .
btw . . . cool neighborhood . never been to india and probably never will , so tell me , is that like a typical middle class residential neighborhood ?
ram , i hear ya . . . on a daily basis , i still find myself making little glitches on timing , presentation , feed the feeding hand , verbal / physical , spatial sensitivity . . . every day there is something new to be learned and existing skills to be improved upon .
