last winter when we were trapped inside because of the fridged temps, we played around marking a heel between (my name for it, lol). Haven't worked on it since... then last week using a pearl shape lure to try to teach her a flip finish, she mistook it for the heel between. So I went with it.... not very good but we only have been working on it a few days.

I wouldn't work with the flip finish and heel between the legs command in the same session. That can confuse a beginning dog. Get one or the other solid then work on the other one. Even after both are understood by the dog you need to keep them very random.
You might want to keep your legs together when your doing the flip finish. Your body language is as important to the dog, if not more so, then your voice commands.
