I was reading the other day that it is good to do the same routine before entering a competition so that your dog finds comfort in it and gets focused. I am going to try and start that with my pups. I read that you implement it before you train each time that way when you come to competition, it is a familiar thing you do and the dog learns when this happens we are getting ready to train, (compete.) I was wondering what type of things you guys do with your dogs. sorry I have so many questions lately.

It always depended on the dog. A Kerry Blue I did very well with in OB was wired tighter then a drum. I played a ton of fetch before going in the ring. It didn't slow him down or tire him out but it helped him concentrate.
One of my present GSDs has a great off and on switch and is also very much a clear headed, "thinking" dog. For him just kicking back and relaxing before ring/trial time. When my ring/trial time came up a simple "lets work" flipped his on switch.
hmmm. I will have to watch my dogs carefully when training to see what is best.
Bindi likes to get started when training. I will have to see with the other two. thanks for your input. sharon
