And it's a great reminder that right near almost all of us is a struggling SPCA or other shelter that takes in these guys and takes care of their injuries and other problems and finds them homes .... with no public funding. There sure is in my town, and every dollar or bag of food they receive helps. Certainly every decision to adopt a dog there helps most, but please don't think that's the only option. They need volunteers, they need office supplies, they need food for their pantry as well as their own animal population; I betcha yours, like ours, has a list.
Fiona has been named dog of the year by the ASPCA for her story has inspired many people to rescue more dogs.
A great post, thanks for sharing this dogs story. It invoked lots of emotions in me, from sadness for the state she had got into through no fault of herself,to anger for the sod that allowed this to happen to her, pride that there are humantarians like yourself that gave her this second chance, joy and relief that sight was able to be restored to one eye,(one of my pack had to have an eye removed when she ran into a bush and punctured her eyeball and she manages very well with just the one eye) happiness that someone was able to find her forever home after bringing her back to good health,Big pat on the back to you !!!

I'm going to re-check that local list this morning (because it changes periodically). Sometimes it can be a simple matter of picking up a bag of kibble and swinging by the shelter on your way home from grocery shopping.
