I am wanting to get a nylon collar that is 2 inches wide and with a plastic buckle. Similar to the one pictured below. I'm having problems finding one that wide with the particular buckle combination.
Any suggested place to check? I'm not looking to spend a fortune, so probably no custom places.
There seems to be a lot of companies selling the separate components of collars, i.e the webbing, buckles, clasps etc, so that you can make your own to your own specifications.
Don't know if any of this is what you are looking for
Is there a particular reason you want that combination?
There's a reason they are hard to come by. The 2" webbing is usually reserved for very large or strong dogs and plastic buckles can break quite easily.
I might use a plastic buckle collar just to hang tags on, but I wouldn't use one to control a dog of more than either average size or energy. My cattledog puppy broke one on a 1" collar when he was only about 6 months old and he couldn't possibly have weighed more than 30 lbs at the time.
If their isn't a particular need for a plastic buckle (like an allergy) I would just get a 2" metal (belt) buckle collar. If you really need that plastic clip I would just get a 1" collar at WalMart, but I would never snap a leash onto it.
If you've really really got to have both, making one like Tracy suggested, is probably your best bet and if your dog weighs more than 60 lbs I'm still not sure I would snap a leash onto it...
Strapworks sells both clips and webbing that big, but I personally have never bought anything from them before.
I'm not sure what you consider a fortune, so these at @ $25 might be excessive.
Also, I wouldn't want a strong lunging dog working these too hard; they're really a bit more fashion than function (but I'd argue that you should be looking at a leather buckle collar rather than something with a plastic clip if you need something robust).
For us, daily wear is a 1" Leerburg leather collar and these are more for playing dress up from time to time. I just find them too nice to get muddy and chewed on by other dogs.
