I've had similar issues. Apollo would be well behaved at home. Once we are around a lot of people, he gets excited and tends to pull more. I need to socialize him more, but now that he's near 100lbs, I need to make sure he doesn't jump up on people in hopes of playing. I'm looking into a prong collar so that when I do take him to a public area I hope to have a better handle on him around other people. At a year old, he still thinks he's a little puppy, also his owner didnt raise him well :-(
I'm a bad owner...
Clarify by spelling every little thing out. Some people can be extreme when drawing their own conclusions.
I recently received my prong collar and am literally overjoyed. Best thing that ever happened to my training outside. First of all, it may hurt the dog a little, but it's nothing like a choke collar or the leash jerk that I used to have to use. . . Especially since I only have to give a verbal correction and a little pop once or twice and it's usually smooth going from there. Moral of the story--get a prong collar! They may look intimidating, but they are safer and more humane than anything else. . . they even take care of a little owner frustration.
