A friend of my GF's brother found this GS in or near Fallbrook Ca. I have not yet talked with them directly but I'm told they checked with GSR's and no luck and they don't want to turn her over to animal control/shelter.
They tried to find owners, not sure how, but they think it was dumped in the river bed near there house. I know there hoping I can take her but not sure at this point what or how much I can help so decided to post here.

Joe, if you or your friends can't keep her and don't find a good home call the Helen Woodward Center. http://www.animalcenter.org/ that's a link to their site. If you do call, do not say she was found as a stray. They do not take in strays, only owner surrenders so just tell them the owner is unable to keep the dog for whatever reason (job loss, move, etc.) I know it's kind of sneaky but, if they take her, she would get great care there until a good home was found.
