Although maybe that comment underneath saying that curiosity was more likely than seeing the dog as dinner is something to think about. I'm thinking the dog had a big swimming disadvantage and was within pretty easy reach for some time.
I think if it had reeally wanted the dog, the dog would have been, er... uh...toast! I have seen many a video of those guys chasing seals completely OUT of the water, nearly beaching themselves.
A lot of the commenters said that, too.
However, studies have determined that, in some cases, sharks attack divers and surfers because they resemble seals when in their wetsuits.
If I were a guy in a wetsuit, or a black lab, I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a sea lion.

(And I think I can see from this clip that the dog in the other one was well within reach for a long time, maybe even while he was standing knee-deep at the end.)
