I can't see the photo because my stupid computer wont hold the photos for more than a millisescond, not sure what thats about.
My practice on umbilical hernias is if there is nothing in the hernia and it is small and easily reducible (you can flatten it easily) I'd watch it and not fix it until I had the dog anaesthetized for something else, neutering, teeth, whatever. My English Shepherd has a little hernia. I'm ignoring it.
USUALLY this works out, sometimes they even go away. But sometimes they don't, sometimes you need to fix them on an emergency basis.
The Park Avenue method, doing everything perfect, would be to do the repair. BUT -- I'm not a fan of anaesthesia in pups, surgery in pups, unless I have to. So I'd be conservative.

Thank you, Betty. It is very small,I'll just keep an eye on it, maybe it will close. If I have him neutered it wouldn't be before he is 2, at which time I could have it repaired.
Anne, I haven't ruled out Clayton, just Clay for short, but the others in the family are not sold on it. They haven't come up with much else that interests me. He's kind of a grouchy looking little guy, Cranky would fit.
