I was a little worried it would be horrible after just watching the previews and clips but I actually like it. I like how they are big on the relationship with the dog and I liked how they treated the handler getting bit- I think there are some people who need to see how someone who knows what they are doing react to that kind of situation.
There have actually been two bites shown. There was the one where the female handler got bit on the leg during a competition, and everyone knew how to handle it.
OTOH, the first bite was an inexperienced police handler on a live-fire course who got bit because he was giving corrections with an inappropriate collar (fursaver) while the dog was amped up. He had no clue what he was doing, and Ken had to step in and show him how to remove the dog from his wrist.
When Jaz got bit, it was during the hard dog fast dog, and her dog was pretty amped up. She shouldn't have been in shorts... But hey.
When the cherry cop hot bit, he was totally clueless. He didn't have the mechanics of leash control down, so he really didn't know how to control the dog's head. Kenny and Danny took the dog off if I remember correctly.
According to what Ken said on the episode, he didn't have control of the dog's head because he was using a fursaver. This is something my TD is always calling out people for during schutzhund training.
