This time of year we have a ton of spring/summer bugs out. Fleas, ticks, little biting gnat type things, etc. the backyard you can see a ton of these things and others I'm sure flying around in the day and evening. I know they bother the pup when he is out there cause he is nipping at them etc and they are bugging us and the kids as well. This year has been worse than the past.
My question is have any of you used any type of lawn treatment to get rid of these pests? I know Cutter makes one you hook up to the hose and spray, and I've seen others at Home Depot. If you have used them, was it successful and what did you use? The ones I've seen are safe for pets, etc after 24 hrs or less.
I had hordes of flies in my back yard. When I used a pyrethrin based product on my raised beds I sprayed the rest of my yard too. It hasn't completely eliminated the fly problem but it cut it by about 90%. Seems to be very safe. In some agricultural areas the insects are becoming pyrethrin resistant.

I just keep Tanner inside until it's dry. I also spray at night to try and give bees the best chance to not come in contact with it. I haven't noticed any effect on the mason bees that visit my garden.
I'm not sure. I normally just spray the garden/yard and then go in for the night. I'm also in Phoenix so everything dries faster here.
I respray about every 3 weeks or so.
The spray has to physically contact the bugs to be effective. I'm having trouble with something eating my bean plants that the spray is not eliminating and I'm sure I'm just not hitting it during the bugs active period.
My current problem is exactly why I'm so comfortable using it. My predatory and pollinating bugs don't seem to be hampered by it at all and that makes me feel a lot safer having it around my dog.
