BTW, here, if you look in the freezer, you can find no-chemical hotdogs. (Frozen because they don't have the preservatives of the deli ones.)
They don't look as pink with no nitrates/nitrites, but trust me that the dog does not care one iota. The dog loves healthful hot dogs as well as unhealthful ones.
The lamb lungs I buy are by Merrick - they are dried
You have to spend time cutting them (I use scissors) cutting them up as they are expensive if not made tiny and trying to break them while training mean pieces fall off and distracts the training.

Trader Joe's has something I often buy called Cocktail Pups. They're near the bacon and the regular hot dogs.
They're mini cooked cocktail-size beef hot dogs with no nitrates/nitrites.
They are too high in calories and fat to be the main reward for most dogs, but for a very high-value reward or for cutting or breaking into fourths and adding them in to a mixed bag, they are perfect.
They are one of those things that scent the less fabulous stuff in the mixed bag, too.

Ill definitely check them out, I've seen them before!
Yes, I passed them by many times with a silent "ick" before it dawned on me what the dogs would think of them.
Cut or broken up or saved whole for VHV rewards, that $3-something yields a load of odorous dog-friendly bites.
So the other day I was teaching a new dog, and the night before, I added some pieces of those to a baggy of these http://leerburg.com/1078.htm .... generated a lot of enthusiasm!
