I know you'll keep looking in the ears regularly (with a flashlight) .... and I'm so glad that things are better!
Thank you Connie! The FAD definitely sounds plausible still, and I won't discount the possibility! Thanks to all the great info here I know to keep it in mind since it might be the culprit even if I never find a flea on him or myself or in my house.
I'll be very vigilant about his ears. I have the "TrueBlue Super Easy Earwipes" that are made with lemon and marigold. I have no idea if that is a good thing or not, but they work great. They are those circular cotton pads that don't tear or break up when you are getting the gunk out of the ear, and the smell is nice, but not overpowering at all for the dog.
