I hope someone can help me, my 4 month old gsd is very aggresive to my 1 and a half year old lab. When I let them out together she is always biting him on the neck and is always tuned into him. If I have them both out at the same time she doesn't pay any attention to me what so ever uless he is far away from us.Is this behavior just a trait of the working lines or is it just her being mean? any info would be great.
Thanks in advance
It's neither specific to working lines nor is it a case of her being mean. It's just perfectly normal dog behavior. Dogs understand their own kind and very often prefer their company to ours if left to their own to decide. No big deal for two pets to become highly attached, but if this is a dog you wanted to work with in some capacity, then I would seriously limit their interaction. The pup will bond with her own kind over you if you don't intervene. Let her spend time alone rather than with the Lab, and of course lots of time with you, so she learns YOU are the most exciting and interesting playmate for her.
