It looks like Broc has a home lined up My housemate's boss is looking for a "first puppy" (NOT first dog). They came to meet him and loved him. They have a few days to make up their mind but I'm told that they're already coming up with names XD So I think it's a go lol
This is great as I'd like to move puppies as soon as possible as they're SUPER adoptable. I'd prefer to take older less adoptable dogs. Broc was the exception because he was sick....'Murica is past the "ball o' puppy" stage and was being euthed THAT NIGHT (stupid owner surrender rules) so I expect to hold onto him a bit longer...which really is not a problem as I like him...he's soooooo easy and even gets along with the antisocial Azula up to a point....
'Murica has no sane prospects. He's actually a NICE dog. If he was high drive I'd want to keep him, he has amazing work ethic is scary bold and ballsy (seriously, picture well bred dutch shepherd puppy....then suck all the crazy drive out but keep that temperment and work ethic). He's practically BOMBPROOF with great handler focus. He's stable and social but not a social butterfly with strangers. He turns OFF when not engaged but is ready to go on a moment's notice. If it wasn't so important to avoid washouts I'd love to get him into a mobility service dog program...but I understand their need to either get well bred dogs or use adult rescues who's health and temperment is known. I honestly think he'd be worth the chance though and considering he wouldn't cost them anything upfront and I'd take him back if he washes out or doesn't get as large as I think he will....
I let him in my (not very puppy proofed) bedroom last night while I worked expecting to have to constantly watch him...he found the bed, curled up and fell asleep...when he woke up he selected a plushie, brought it back to the bed and played with it...then fell asleep again....in the middle I asked him for a sit (which he knows VERY well) and he woke up, sat up...got his treat, I told him he was free and he was back down and asleep again lol
What is he supposed to be, breed -wise? Some sort of pitxlab?
Considering the area I'm going to guess Lab infused a generation or so back with Shar Pei.
There's a BYB that pumps out Lab's with sharpei in this area every few months. And he lines up with their last little on Craigslist. btw, know anyone looking for pure shar peis they also breed those, our kill shelter is full of them -_-

This describes to a T what I will be looking for in my next dog. As often happens, the timing is just not right now. I currently have two, and one is dealing with some serious health issues and needs to have her life be as stress-free as possible for the time she has left.
It does indeed sound like somebody is going to get a wonderful dog! Jamie, we've never met, but just based on "knowing you" from this board, you are such a good person in so many ways, and you have made life better for so many dogs. You're an inspiration.
