The last couple of days Amber has been yelping just once when jumping up, pain seems to be in the right hind, I put her back on asaprin and this morning no yelp. She is not overtly lame, is stiff and stretching, unfortunately due to my horse requiring a huge vet bill recently Ambi won't be seeing her vet for a couple of weeks, sooo... I've been struggling with whether to walk/exercise her normally, or cut back and do the bare minimum to allow whatever it is to heal. This does not feel like her typical lyme flare. Should I exercise her or not?

Sooo... I was poking around Amber trying to get an idea of where the pain is coming from, and where I "think" her hip joints are, I can fit my finger in what feels like joint space on the right, but not in the same area on the left. Arghhhh.... this I think should be checked sooner than later. She did spin out on this hip twice as a pup and we've watched it.
Oh, my aching wallet, calling the vet now. Will update.

Thank you Kristin, we're back from the vet, she noted the divot and that Ambi was very sore in that hip. After discussion, we decided to hold off on xrays as Ambi had full weight on the leg and would need to be sedated, and went for a full tick panel to rule out other tick diseases and see if this is another lyme flare, results will be back in a few days. Ambi is now on rimadyl and tramadol and vet has suggested at least 48 hours of rest. I'm going out to the woods to strangle all the little deer ticks I can find, lol.

Just thought I'd give an update, Ambi's test results are back and huge surprise (!) Her lyme titre is low (we did knock it down on the last flare, yay) she was also RMSF negative, was positive for anaplasmosis but she's known to be positive so we won't be treating. So it looks like this is a musculoskeletal problem. Will be getting xrays to see what's going on. She'll continue on Rimadyl for a couple more days then will take it from there (will be doing bloodwork to monitor the nsaid) She is off bedrest and was thrilled to go for a walk today.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's something temporary that's got her down - and once you have the x-rays back, you'll know. And knowing lets you plan ahead.
I hope so too, she did some jumping a higher height but no more than we usually do. She sitting upright so I think that's a good sign, vet said it could possibly be stifle as well.
