I started e-collar recall training with my boy yesterday, he understood really quickly. Now the problem is he won't go pee without me being next to him, he's scared I might call him and he won't answer or something. Is he gonna get better?

I did like the DVD said, 2 weeks of put on, take off 4-5 times a day. I work with nick only. I took a 15 minutes walk with him off leash in the field behind my house and had to stem him only 3 times.
Its nothing terrible, he'll be ok. What I would do though is quit using it for a few days and then start over. I like to always start with something they know very well. I'm guessing his recall wasn't great, that's why you went with the ecollar.
I start with sit. That's easiest for me, my dogs always start sitting for food from the day I bring them home so they know sit very well before they ever see an ecollar.
At the lowest level they feel, press continuous and say sit at the same time. As soon as their butts down release the button. Then their verbal release, ok, and reward.
Next I go to the recall, on a long line. Let them wander 10' or so from you, then the same thing. Press cont and say come, release the button as soon as he turns and starts coming towards you.
The third one I do is send him into his crate, with the same steps. All these are things they already know, I'm just teaching him that he's in control of shutting off the stim and the new feeling isn't something to worry about.
There's a reason for the three different commands keeping a balance in your training to help avoid the 'Velcro dog' But without over thinking the whole thing, I think the most important part is just that your making clear to them, what the feeling is and that its not a big deal.

Indeed, leash pulling and recall are is only weakness, he's 1 smart 16 months old mutt. He knows his right from his left and says please and thank you.. Thank you Steve for your advice.
And those are two things, I don't use the ecollar for. I spend a lot of time giving them a good reason to run TO me and I just give a pop on the leash if they're pulling to hard. Have fun with him Rachel.
