Kristin, I would think it doesn't' matter since you are cooking it enough to kill any bacteria.
My friend was feeding her golden with bone cancer mostly ground meats (chicken,Turkey, lamb) cooked per Allen's instructions. Also with a number of supplements that he prescribed. Also some cooked salmon.

Kipp seems to be feeling better for now appetite is better, poop is semi-formed for the first time in two weeks, still a bit anemic but attitude is good and he wants to do stuff (partly prednisone induced but I'm not complaining right now). I'll continue to try more food with him, but if all he wants is cat food and scrambled eggs then I'll happily feed him that. But tonight he did eat a little THK so maybe he'll end up eating that just fine. FWIW, I didn't mention this before but the vet spent a good amount of time explaining everything and consulted with a canine lymphoma specialist after all the test results where back. While none of the information was encouraging, I got some pretty good info to make decisions with and I'm really glad for that.
I'm glad for him and for you that he is receiving some good time from the Pred.
Just thought I'd update - Kipp is doing pretty well right now. He's had a couple rough days but overall he is happy and active. The average person wouldn't know he was sick most of the time. Playing frisbee, can still tug like crazy and wants to do stuff. He has a really good appetite 75% of the time and is eagerly eating THK zeal with added cooked chicken, turkey or fish at those times. The rest of the time he can usually be tempted with, umm, err, Meow Mix I don't argue with him then and try not to read the ingredients... :p

Nice update, Mara. I'm glad Kipp is holding his own and enjoying some special foods! You continue to be in my thoughts, and I hope you and Kipp will enjoy a lot of quality time together during this beautiful weather that has finally arrived.
