Just as all American people don't all behave the same, GSDs don't all behave the same. A lot can be observed when you go to pick out our dog. How is it acting. Is it hyper. Is it laid back. Is if friendly. In addition a great deal can be accomplished in training. Look for a good choice in the litter and start training.

I would also suggest looking at multiple litters, to ensure you see a broad variety. Not all shepherds are protective, my female was caught hugging and kissing a repairman who came into the house while I was sleeping after a night shift, not a good watch dog, lol. BUT their presence alone is a pretty good deterrent. Happy puppy hunting My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.

Some people won't even come up on my front porch to knock on the door with my dogs,especially my male, at the front window. LOL MY DOGS...MY RULES
