Hi, I am taking my 1 and a half year old malinois into the states from Canada, she will need all her vaccines as well as rabies. I do not know if she has had any shots ever, we were told she had her puppy shots when we got her but no proof. What would be the most holistic route to go? I don't think titre testing is accepted but I know you are supposed to do each vaccine separately? Is that true? Also whats the difference between killed and live and whats better? I am anti over vaccinating and she eats raw so not too thrilled about vaccinating again so soon after im sure her puppy shots are still effective. Any supplements that would help limit the toxic effect of the vaccines?
thanks!

If your pup is over a year a single booster of DHLP-Parvo won't hurt. Rabies boosted at 1 yr should be fine too.
Rabies shots almost always are accompanied by a tag. If she has no tag, she likely isn't vaccinated.
IMHO.

oh really Kelly? That's good news. And I can see getting that one as maybe they actually have rabies there, they don't here. although that is also the one with the biggest side effects. The company even pays for cancer treatment...scary. She was 5 months when we got her, no tag came with her. Hopefully she hasn't had it.

Rabies vaccines are all killed virus. Do be aware of any potential issues in the area you are traveling to. Like heartworm disease or tick diseases. If there is HW there, I would give her a dose of preventative within 30 days of your arrival. If tick diseases are a big issue then I'd look into a top spot or tick collar. The effects of either one isn't fun to deal with.
oh ya never thought of that, we are road tripping down to sunny California. Wonder if they still have heartworm in the winter. Cant wait to see it, always wanted to go!
