My Kenji passed over the rainbow bridge 10 days ago. He was only 4 years and 8 months old. Kenji suffered from toom any Familial Sharpei Fevers since 8 months old, and died from amyloidosis-asscoiated liver/kidney failures. Amyloid has also been detected in lungs and spleen... Although I am extremely mad at his "breeder" who intentionally breeds dogs carrying this genetic disease, I feel blessed for having had Kenji in my life.
Kenji was an outstanding, athletic and extremely stable dog. Full of himself, he exalted a phenomenal aura of confidence in every situation...Always ready to go, we spent all my free time together by playing, training, hiking, traveling... Canadian winter time was his favorite season; huge snow fall and freezing temperature never stop us to go out for a long walk...He was a clown...especially when he was making his bed as cats do... Although he almost never barked, Kenji used to speak a lot...
Kenji was "Gentle in the heart, but brave and strong on the surface"
I miss him so much, but I know that he is keeping an eye on me when he is not trying to catch one of these "speedy" squirrels running all over the rainbow...
We will meet again when my turn will come my great buddy...
Tears here for you, Sebastien, and I imagine your "little" Akita is also grieving the loss of his pack-mate Kenji -- I could only wish these temporary separations would somehow get a little bit easier each time, but alas, the diametrical opposite is actually the case ... God BLESS You, my cyber friend.
I wish I had words that would ease your deep sense of loss and grief .. All I know is that in time you will find yourself laughing over some antic that was all his own.
Darling Kenji - too short of a life but may you find comfort in your memories .. in time.
My condolences .. Maggie
