This is driving me nuts now!
Third time of typing, and I really can't be arsed to try to explain in detail again, so if anyone has more brain function than mine, which has been rendered dead by a rare and infuriating head cold, I will be grateful.
Sam has asked me to explain the following;
The Queen tells Alice:
'I wish I could manage to be glad! Only I can never remember the rule'
The author of the paper goes on to say, that 'Their hollowness stems from their negation of meaning. There are no ends, only signs which lead nowhere, landscapes which are labyrinths without a centre'
Sam's question was, what does 'negation' mean in this context, and my usual processing of articulating a satisfactory answer is absent in the extreme

Well, to negate means to Cancel or Null or Un-Do something with its exact opposite...
Example "in context":
The reason it's freezing COLD in here is because the furnace is cranked-up to maximum HEAT

You and me both, I feel like death warmed up, and I could tell her what negate meant in two words, but in context, forget it! She is in her final year at uni now, and as the mama that gets the IM's straight from work, and on a day when I have no bloody brain function, I ran straight to here for some brains not currently in a cement mixer!
Roll on graduation so I can fire up the pooter without sighing deeply when the speech bubble has a message waiting!
