Good News!! Vet says it was just a cyst- nothing to worry about!!
It looked really weird and when the vet tried to do a needle aspiration, nothing came out so she wanted to get it off ASAP. The stuff inside it was thick and gooey and icky, but the vet said that it wasn't cancerous in any way, and all her blood tests came out perfect for a 7 year old dog.
I can breathe again!
Drift was pretty stoned last night and sleepy, but today she's raring to go and somewhat miffed at me because she's on leash restriction for a week. Oh well, small price to pay.
Thank you ALL for your positive thoughts and well wishes. You all mean so much to me, and I am grateful for your support.

Congrats in the good news! Luca had a similar cyst removed (his was from a rear limb.) Based on our experience, be careful of the wound. There's not a lot of skin on a limb to cover an excision Iike this. His wound kept re-opening, despite sutures. It all healed fine in the end. If there's any tension on the closure, just keep an eye on it.
