I get a 36lb bag of cal nat for $38 with tax. the nutri source is $21 with tax and proplan (which I used to feed) is $29 with tax. Not too bad I guess, until your feeding 5 GSDs, 1 mal, 1 BC, 1 lab/gsd, and 1 little mutt (who doesn't really count 'cause he doesn't eat much) :-)
I go through a lot of dog food! I do also like that they eat much less on the cal nat. I have taken to recommending it even though the dogs have not been on it long because I have already seen great results!
hey everyone,
I have been using Nutro Max for 2 years it has done wonders for Argo and Riley, it comes for all ages, medical conditions including sensitive stomachs. it's 24.00 for 40lb bag with great coat and weight results. Petsmart sells it. I spoke to the food company for information they are very responsiable with customer satisfaction.

Elisabeth, you might be able to talk with the people where you buy the food and get a discount for preordering a large quantity of food (you pay, then come pick it up when it comes in). This eliminates a lot of their overhead (storage, stock, etc) and they might be willing to pass the savings on to you.
The other option is to find a food that you like that isn't sold in your area then become a distributor <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> , or even better start adding some raw to their diet (can't beat 30 cents a lb).

I have a bit of a problem. My older dog a Rot-lab mix, 2 years old, likes Pedigree and will not eat Innova. I tried switching him to it but he won't such it. This is a problem since it has a high cost. I also have an 11 weeks GSD male so I'm trying to get him started on a good brand. He is young enough that he'll eat anything.
Is Pedigree really that bad for dogs? Is there a good dry food out there that is not going to empty my wallet? It appears from above that California Natural is a good brand, however is it human grade?
This is a tough subject as everyone has their own opinion and what they like. I would like to use Innova with the pub, but it's just too expensive.
Well, I don't personally like pedigree because I won't feed anything with corn in it. I also believe (though I'm not sure-correct me if I'm wrong) that pedigree has by-product meal and chemical preservatives in it as well, which I will also not feed.
I do believe that cal nat is human grade, though I guess I would have to check their site to be sure on that. I love it because of the simplicity of the ingredients and the only grain is rice. They use no chemical preservatives (use vit. E), no salt, no by-products, no corn, no fillers...you get the point. There is nothing in that food that I disagree with, which is more than I can say for any other food I have looked at...and I have label checked a lot of brands!
