Hey so I need to purchase two tugs. There really aren't any reviews on the tugs on this site. I am looking for about 10 to 12 inches and two different surfaces. Also which diameter should I be looking at? What is a fire hose tug?
What do you guys recommend for Leerburg tugs?
Are there any great online companies with good tugs? The only one I know of is Full Grip Gear.
Fire hose tugs are called that because they are made with the same material that fire hoses are. It's a really tight woven nylon. I don't like them. IMO they are too slick and hard to bite but I have dogs with weaker bites. Some people like them for that exact reason. They claim that it teaches a dog to grip harder.
Diameter depends on your dog to some extent. I know my pup prefers toys that he can get his mouth all the way around so I pick thinner tugs. Some people in my class have pups that are quite happy to grab tugs that they can't even get their mouth all the way around.
I like braided fleece tugs best for young pups. Lots of movement and easy for them to play with. The other one that I'd probably try with a young pup is the flat leather one
I prefer leather tugs for older dogs. I have a flat tug and a small tug from Leerburg and my 43# Border Collie loves both.
