Its great to know that i can certainly improve my dogs ability to focus even though i messed up imprinting.
My future sport dog however will be raised differently
Ive learnt so much in the past year. Im very lucky that my amstsffs nerves are rock solid and he isnt sensitive otherwise i could have had serious behavioural problrms with alot of the mistakes ive made. The joys of self education haha
Good grieve, Candi! Thanks so much for that praise. But I and wonderful?!!! I'm merely trying to assume my responsability I accepted when I decided to have dogs. Is this not, what every dog owner should do and every dog lover actually does? But sometimes you should see the confusion in my head. You would faint! Nevertheless I will open a bottle of wine this evening for this compliment. Hope I'll not kill the whole. Cheers!

"FOR ME", a socializied dog means I can go out in the world and the dog has to accept whatever I expose it to in as much a neutral manner as possible.
My dogs don't need to interact with People, places, things, etc without my permission.
This is all pretty much up to the individual owner as to how much interaction they will allow but, especially in the beginning the dog's attention should be on the owner.
That eliminates many training issues if you keep to that.
I agree fully with you, Bob. My ideas about socialization have changed completely and so has my behavioral training during walks. And it really works. Takes some time, includes mistakes, but finally it works.
