HI,
I'm am new to the board, Ihave read alot of the posts and also most of the articles. I have recently aquaried a 5 month old GSD pup as a personal protection dog and PSA (protection sport association) compitetion dog. This boy (Zeus) is huge, he weighs around 45 to 55lbs. and is stil growing. How much should I feed him, currently he is eating 2 cups in the morning, 2 cups in the afternoon, and 21/2 cps in the evening. He is still very fit and he has a dent in his side. Should I be feeding him more, should I be feeding him less. He is bigger that some adult GSD's and all of his litter mates. Any comments will be welcome.
It really depends on what he is eating. My pup at the same age was eating 3 cups a day TOTAL. However he gets a better qualtiy kibble. If he was on a lesser quality brand he would have had to be fed more.
Also, just because you can still "see a dent in his side", really doesn't say much. A dog can actually be overweight and still have a "dent" in their side. Can you EASILY feel (or even see )your pups ribs?
HI,
Thank you for replying. I'm feeding my puppy a high quality food, Eukanuba. How much does your baby GSD weigh, is it anywhere close to what he weighs, is my baby a normal weight , maybe, but I don't think hieght wise he is. Does anyone know what the regular hieght and weight is for a 5 month old , cuties if I may add , GSD's
