My two are getting to the point where they can't jump up into the back of my crv anymore. I'm not strong enough to lift either of them completely without one of us risking injury. I've been looking at dog ramps on Amazon- anyone have recommendations for one that is a good size for a 95lb gsd? I looked at some steps at my local petco but they were puny... I want something that feels stable so they are more likely to actually use it.
Hi Carolyn. I bought a deluxe telescoping pet ramp from outsmart ( on line) for my Nissan titan crew cab pick up when my female's back got bad. It is 13 lbs & says it holds 400 lbs. Though I doubt you'd be testing that. Expands from 39 to 72 inches. Ship ticket still on the box says $ 114. It was a couple if year's ago...So it will be a bit more today. Made by solvit. I later used it on my deck steps for her to be able to eliminate 4 of the steps for her going up & down. It was outside in the new England weather for several months with no problem or damage. It has a sticky tread that works in all temps & wet & dry conditions.
I'd start with it flat on the ground & elevate a little at a time ( before placing it on the vehicle if you have a dog that it not used to walking on all kinds of surfaces , heights , wiggly footing etc.
I even walked on it a ftvew times. It worked well for me. Hope this helps.
Hi Carolyn, I really love the Solvit folding ramp. It works for my 90lb. GSD who has a terrible rear. The ramp folds in half and is super easy to carry and store. I had previously tried many others, but this one is the best and easiest to use. Got it on Amazon for around 85 bucks.
Forgot to add, I believe the weight max is around 250lbs.
Mine does not fold at all.....it telescopes out only. I went with it due to the extra height of the truck plus the crates were on a platform that we made that elevated the crates another 4+ inches above the floor of the back seat area. I removed the back seat to put the crates in there. I used to travel a lot for training with my dogs.
