As Mara mentioned it's not really free shaping but I have used shaping to go back and reset the criteria on a behavior that got muddled. I've also used it for when the dog is really stuck on a lure and doesn't seem to get that they are the one that's supposed to be doing most of the work.
Thanks. Have never done it this way before and want to test just how well my Newf understands a command that has been taught via luring and performs via word command now.
Going to try teaching something very simple and new via luring and also via clicker shaping. And also clicker shaping a known behavior but of course won't give any signals or cues.
I want to really know if my dog (and I know each dog is an individual unto himself) learns more solidly via luring vs shaping.
Also want to see how much more behavior offering my dog does after shaping sessions.
Wondered if anybody else had the same questions and had tried this in some form and what they discovered. Thanks!
